Trailer Pulling InformationIf you are interested in pulling our band equipment trailer, here are some important details: The trailer is owned by the band boosters and was purchased through donations. Please treat it with care as we are responssible for the maintenance and repairs The trailer is a tandem axle Wells Cargo and is 20 feet long (24 feet including the hitch) , 8 feet high and 8 feet wide. The hitch uses a 2-inch ball and your hitch ball height should be 21 inches, It's equipped with surge brakes so NO electrical brake hookup is required The tongue weight is approximately 300 to 500 pounds depending on the total cargo loaded. Total trailer weight is between 3000 and 5000 pounds depending on cargo loaded. The wiring connector is a "standard" 7-PIN round plastic connector with power to run the interior lights The surge brake hitch
has a lever inside that has to go under the ball to work. The hitch lock
lever has to be up while attaching to the tow ball. There is a hole in
the side of the lever for that purpose. Use the leg of the padlock to
hold it open. It's much easier to line up the ball with the front edge
of the hitch so it slides under the brake lever inside. The hitch "foot"
has to come off after hooking up and the post cranked all the way up to
provide driveway clearance. The foot lifts up and turns to unlock.
We recommend a truck or SUV with a V-8 engine for best towing performance. A V-6 engine will work, but your hill climbing ability will be slow. The tow vehicle assumes liability for the trailer so we require "full coverage" insurance with $100,000 minimum liability coverage. We offer fuel and
bridge toll reimbursement for trailer pullers. Start the trip with a full
tank and refuel upon return and present fuel and bridge receipts to the
Booster Treasurer. If you will be pulling the trailer for the first time, we recommend that you go to the yard and hook up once to make sure everything works BEFORE you'll be pulling. Any of the Booster Board members can arrange to get you the keys.
